We are excited to introduce two new module for the upcoming summer semester:
1. Metal Additive Manufacturing and Structural Optimisation
This course provides essential insights into 3D printing technologies, particularly metal additive manufacturing (AM). It highlights the importance of AM in producing novel, resource-efficient, and customised components. The course covers computational and optimisation tools crucial for designing and simulating AM processes, as well as labs visits and hands-on experience. Our primary goal is to equip students with the knowledge and computational skills to utilise the transformative potential of additive manufacturing and optimisation strategies.
2. Faitgue and Fracture
This course offers comprehensive insights into fatigue and fracture mechanics, encompassing a wide range of topics, such as fatigue assessment methods and strengthening techniques. You will delve into advanced fatigue assessment methods, including the theory of critical distance and implicit gradient method, enabling more accurate lifetime predictions. The course blends theoretical knowledge with practical experience through lab visits, material testing and 3D scanning, designed to reinforce understanding and application of key concepts.
