Objectives
The students gain knowledge about different constructional principles in steel construction, steel composite construction, and glass construction. The students are able to find solutions for complex constructional details. Special connection methods at wind turbines as well as economic and usage-depending aspects are considered. The students gain knowledge about the principles of constructional design using CAD software, and they are able to solve constructional problems autonomously.
Topics
- Presentation of basic constructional principles and opportunities of design in steel construction and steel composite construction, constructional joints in civil engineering, special connection methods at wind turbines
- Design and dimensioning of special constructions (e.g. plane and spatial panel points at frameworks, points of load application, column bases, frame corners, lattice towers, ring flanges)
- Corrosion protection systems and corrosion-protective design
- Fatigue and fatigue design
- Cost effectiveness of steel constructions
- Glass construction
- Support structure planning in steel contruction, using CAD
Exam
The requierements to pass the course are the participitation at an oral examination and the writing of an term paper.
